I think it was mostly a success because they had out Eiffled the Eiffel tower which was like the main objective. There was also a long list of inventions that was a result of the fair. The fair made a profit, helped promote many businesses and brought money into the economy. I think one negative point about the fair was how quickly it all vanished. The book mentioned that Americans were so sad to close the fair down and when parts of it were destroyed.
It was a major success in that it achieved its original goal of being way better than the Eiffel tower,it created a lot of pride for America because of how truly amazing it was. It can be argued that it was a failure because of how it ended but then again, it was meant to be short-lived. The sadness of it all ending was just emphasized because of the dark times during the period due to the terrible economy. It also changed the opinion of cities that Americans had in a good way. It may have been really costly but the fair was major success
The fair was a success in the area of national pride. For a time Chicago was a center for international connections and commerce, and the Exposition was thought to have outdone the Paris Exposition in both size and content (like Ferris's wheel), which was the main reason it was created in the first place. The fair itself could have only been a failure if it fell short; the fact that it met everyone's expectations--and more--makes the fire an end to a success, rather than the force that destroyed a failure.
